Bilateral TonePrivacy Policy
In short
Bilateral Tone has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. The app does not record audio or use the microphone. Tones are generated on your device.
What is processed
Anonymous ID: The app gives your device a random ID through Google Firebase Anonymous Authentication. No name, email or phone number is asked for.
Session details: During a session, Google Cloud Firestore holds the session code, both participants' anonymous IDs, the tone settings (playing or stopped, speed, pitch, volume) and timestamps showing the connection is alive.
App verification: Firebase App Check uses Apple App Attest/DeviceCheck and Google Play Integrity to confirm requests come from the genuine app. This check contains no personal information.
Update check: At launch the app downloads a small settings file (latest version and maintenance status) from this website. Like any web request, Cloudflare may briefly keep technical logs such as the IP address.
How long it is kept
Session details are deleted when the session ends. If one phone loses its connection, the other phone deletes the session. If both apps close unexpectedly, the record is deleted the next time the app opens. Unused session codes expire after 15 minutes and are reused by new sessions.
Sharing
Nothing is sold or used for advertising, and nothing is shared beyond Google Firebase and Cloudflare, which provide the service.
Security
Firestore security rules let only a session's two participants read or change it. Connections are encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
The app keeps no information that identifies you and session details delete themselves, so no deletion request is needed. Deleting the app also invalidates its anonymous ID. Write to us with any questions.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version and its date are published on this page.
